    HealthCare Programs

    If you need health insurance, you can be enrolled in a comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plan beginning the first day of the month following your date of hire. With healthcare costs on the rise, you'll be comforted to know that we're doing all we can to keep your premiums down and quality up.

    Medical Plan Options: MedicAlert Foundation offers a choice of health insurance plans, so you can choose the balance of cost and access to care that best meets your needs. Each plan offers four tiers of coverage: yourself only, you plus one dependent, you and children, or you and family

    Dental, Vision, and Wellness Programs

    • Dental Plan: The MedicAlert Foundation Dental Plan lets you see the dentist of your choice and enjoy the same benefit coverages anywhere.
    • VSP Vision Plan: Benefits within the VSP network include an eye examination and prescription glasses (lenses and frames), covered in full, each calendar year. Contact lenses can also be covered instead of glasses (up to a certain dollar limit).
    • Wellness Programs: A wide range of wellness benefits are available to all employees, at no additional cost, through your medical plan provider.

    Insurance and Income Protection Programs

    • Short-Term Disability (STD): When you can't work due to injury or illness, this employer-paid program provides income protection for you and your family.
    • Long-Term Disability (LTD): LTD provides extended peace of mind, starting coverage when STD ends. You can choose from two employer-paid options from Standard Insurance, one of which offers a tax-free benefit.
    • Basic Life and AD&D Insurance: Basic Life and AD&D insurance are provided at no cost to you.
    • Supplemental Life Insurance: Optional coverage is also available.

    Financial and Savings Programs

    Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs): These programs let you save money on taxes by paying for qualified expenses with pretax dollars, but you need to enroll each year to take advantage of them. You decide how much to contribute into each of your accounts, based on your estimate of qualified expenses for the coming year. Three types of accounts are available:

    • HealthCare FSA: This account can be used for qualified expenses not covered by your medical plan, such as copays, prescription costs, vision expenses, and orthodontia.
    • Dependent Care FSA: This FSA can be used for qualified day care expenses for a child, an elderly parent, or a disabled spouse.
    • 401(k) Plan: The MedicAlert Foundation 401(k) plan features a company matching contribution equal to 200% of an eligible employee's salary deferral. Salary deferral contributions up to 5.35% of an employee's compensation will be matched.

    Work-Life Programs


    • Time Off: Paid vacation time increases based on years of service. Time off also includes paid holidays and sick time.
    • Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Employees can get free, confidential assistance with issues such as individual or family counseling, work/life conflicts, and legal and financial services.
    • Educational Assistance: The Tuition Reimbursement Plan covers expenses for accredited coursework.
